A Decade of Handcrafted Ice Cream, Right on N Main
In the ever-evolving Walnut Creek food scene, staying power is the ultimate credential. Lottie’s Creamery has been scooping handcrafted artisan ice cream at 1414 N Main Street since 2013 — more than a decade of churning out daily flavors, building a loyal following, and proving that a family-owned scoop shop can thrive in a city full of chain options.

The Lottie’s Experience
Walk into the Walnut Creek location on N Main and the first thing you notice is the rotating board of daily flavors. This isn’t a pre-packaged operation. The kitchen makes small-batch ice cream in-house, with flavors that change regularly based on what’s fresh and what’s inspiring the team.
On a recent visit (May 23, 2026), the board featured twelve flavors ranging from the classic to the creative:
- Tea & Biscuite — a tea-infused cream base with cookie pieces New
- Dark Chocolate — deep, rich, and not messing around
- Mocha Fudge Cake — coffee, chocolate, and cake chunks in one scoop Staff Pick
- Roasted Strawberry — strawberries roasted to concentrate their flavor, then folded into cream Staff Pick
- Rum Raisin — a classic done right
- Vanilla Bean — the litmus test for any creamery; Lottie’s passes
- Vanilla Salted Almond Toffee — sweet and salty with a crunch
- Fresh Mint Chocolate Chip — made with real mint, not green food coloring
- Oatmeal Raisin Cookie — essentially a cookie in ice cream form
- Honeycomb — crunchy honeycomb candy folded throughout
- Mint Lemonade Sorbet (Vegan) — bright, tart, dairy-free
- Darkest Chocolate (Vegan) — proof that vegan doesn’t mean compromise
The Danville location (145 E Prospect Ave) runs its own flavor board with some overlap and some exclusives. On the same day, Danville featured Thai Iced Tea, Turkish Coffee, Salted Caramel, and Orange Blossom Honey alongside the core lineup.

Why Lottie’s Works
In a downtown dining landscape increasingly dominated by restaurant groups and out-of-town concepts, Lottie’s Creamery is a genuine local operation. It’s family-owned. It’s been here for over a decade. The ice cream is made the hard way — small batches, real ingredients, flavors that rotate instead of sitting in a freezer case for months.
When the Walnut Creek summer heat kicks in and you’re walking off dinner downtown, a scoop of Roasted Strawberry or Mocha Fudge Cake from Lottie’s is about as good as it gets. The late hours (11 PM on weekends) make it a natural dessert stop after a show at the Lesher Center or drinks on Locust Street.
Next time you’re on N Main, skip the chains. Support a local business that’s been doing it right since 2013.
