Broadway Plaza is a 960,000-square-foot open-air shopping center in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek. It runs along South Main Street and Mt. Diablo Boulevard, anchored by Nordstrom, Macy's, and a mix of national luxury retailers, specialty boutiques, and more than 30 restaurants and food vendors. Parking at Broadway Plaza
Broadway Plaza offers three free parking garages:
- Broadway Garage — Enter from South Broadway. The largest and most central garage.
- Nordstrom Garage — Enter from Mt. Diablo Boulevard. Best access to Nordstrom and the north end of the plaza.
- Macy's Garage — Enter from South Main or Olympic Boulevard. Best access to Macy's and the south end.
Parking is free for the first 3 hours. After 3 hours, rates apply. On busy weekends and during the holiday season, garages can fill by midday. The earlier you arrive, the better your options. Street parking is also available around the plaza with metered spots and time limits.
Getting There
By BART: Walnut Creek BART station is a 10-minute walk from Broadway Plaza. Exit the station and walk west on Ygnacio Valley Road, then south on North Main Street. The plaza entrance is at the corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and North Main.
By car: Take I-680 to the Ygnacio Valley Road exit, head west, then south on North Main. Or take Highway 24 to the Mt. Diablo Boulevard exit and head east. Follow signs for downtown Walnut Creek.
By bus: County Connection buses serve downtown Walnut Creek. Routes 4, 5, and 7 stop near Broadway Plaza.
What's Coming Next: The Old Neiman Marcus Corner
The most prominent vacant space at Broadway Plaza is the former Neiman Marcus building at the corner of South Main and Mt. Diablo Boulevard. Neiman Marcus closed in 2021, and the 1000 S. Main building has been empty since.
Restoration Hardware proposed an ambitious redevelopment — four interconnected buildings with Mediterranean architecture, a glass conservatory restaurant, fountains, and nearly 70 new trees — but withdrew its application in 2026.
